EBOLA has been in the news for awhile now. As of April 14th the virus had infected 168 people in Guinea, West Africa, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). At least 108 had died.

By 2015, the number of graduates from US medical schools is expected to surpass the number of positions in residency programs. Going with the trend of preference by US Residency Programs given to US Medical Graduates, it will become nearly impossible for IMGs to get into US GME Programs.

Ebola Disease Outbreak in West Africa Is By New Strain of Virus

An Ebola outbreak blamed for 135 deaths in West Africa in the past month was not imported from Central Africa but caused by a new strain of the disease, researchers reported in a recent study, thus raising the specter of further regional epidemics.

The World Health Organization, WHO, had last week on the 9th of April, 2014; issued its first-ever guidance for the treatment of hepatitis C, a chronic infection that affects an estimated 130 million to 150 million people and results in 350 000 to 500 000 deaths a year.

Outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in Guinea and Liberia (An Update)

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Guinea reported 157 probable and suspect cases of Ebola virus infection, including 101 deaths on April 10, 2014. Of these suspect cases, 66 have been laboratory confirmed positive cases of Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF).
